The best way to get to Hiroshima is to use the Shinkansen on the Sanyo line. The line runs from Hakata (in the west) to Shin-Osaka. Some trains also continue to Kyoto.
A one-way ticket from Kyoto costs from 10770 Yen (non-reserved seat). The train from Kyoto takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
From Tokyo, on the other hand, the ticket costs from 18380 Yen (non-reserved seat) and the train takes from 3 hours 55 minutes (Nozomi) to over 5 hours (Hikari with a change at Shin-Osaka).
